Pregnancy bleeding is seen vaginally, but that does not mean the vagina is the source. This article explores how visual clues, microscopy, microbiology, chemistry, proteomics and DNA/RNA may help reconstruct whether bleeding originated from the cervix, decidua, placenta or fetal membranes.
